The sports center of Colovray intervenes in the story of the city of Nyons, which it activates the hilly landscape. Given its size, and the number of the expected visitors, the hall was designed as a large open public space on the sports field. The public cafeteria, lined with belvedere terraces, benefits from total accessibility, on the same level with the reception esplanade. The insertion into the field, leaves open the possibilities of two accesses, according to the evolution of the project. The sports program is defined by surfaces dedicated to sports, changing areas, locker rooms and storage areas. The flow distribution chart separates the user by categories, while providing generous space for all. The space is designed for events hosting over 2000 people.
Like an Arena, the plan is organized on a frame that ensures modularity and symmetry. Its structure allows scalability and flexibility. The architecture of the sports hall pursues the landscape idea of domains. The project is seen not like a building but rather a meeting place under the same roof, like market hall. The structure of the parasol roof is inspired by the architecture of the wooden barns. The sustainable development of the site depends on several factors, which range from functionality, to the flexibility of structural elements, the ecological quality of landscaping, to the choice of materials used for finishing and constructions. The project is global, whether it is architecture or landscape, the objectives are the same.
